I struggled with the shakes too, but finally found one I like. I don't like the Isopure fruit waters, but I love the Isopure low carb dutch chocolate. I found it at GNC. They have a return policy, so if you don't like it, you can take it back. Its not as sweet as other brands, and not as thick, so its easier to drink. I thought it didn't have as much of a nasty Protein taste like other brands too.

. I did however try the Special K Protein drinks and can tolerate them better the down side is they only have 10 grams of Protein in them.

I've bought both flavors, but I haven't tried them yet... I'm pre-op though.

I had a lot of problems post surgery with Protein drinks. My NUT recommended trying an egg protein, so I did Jay Robb egg Protein Powder and it changed everything. It taste good and I tolerate it fine. chocolate is my preferred flavor, I do not like the strawberry. The vanilla is ok, I just add different flavors of Torani sugar free Syrup. Before Jay Robb I had tried numerous protein drinks, they just didn't agree with me. Such as, Premier Protein, nectar, Isopure, pure protein and probably more.

I boiled a skinless chicken breast in some chicken broth and added just one tbs of cream. I take a small amount each day and purée it in the blender - best thing ever. I have also added a boiled potato and spinach and puréed as well. Taste like a chicken pot pie - but I can only get about 4 bites in so the fat and cho's are too low to be harmful. I'm a diabetic educator - so have some background in nutrition. I also found an already made shake called "Rocking Refuel" that is my savior. I buy the chocolate that is 190 calories and 30 gms of Protein per 12 oz serving. Amazing! It is made with with milk protein rather than whey so doesn't have a chalky protein taste at all. Google them for their website to find a retailer near you. They are by the chocolate milk at my grocery store. The Vanilla and strawberry are amazing as well - but lower protein and higher calories. If I'm really struggling, I will have half of one though. Haven't tried it yet, but the brand Silk that makes soy and almond milk has a new juice with protein. And last - there is a drink called Kefir - it is really just liquid yogurt. There are flavored ones and plain which you could add half a banana to for a smoothie. Kefir is gluten and lactose free - which is nice. It is usually in the organic dairy section at the grocery store. Hope this helps!

I was sleeved 6/12 and struggle with Protein Shakes as well in different flavors. Before surgery I drank them really fast so they would be down but now only able to take sips I haven't managed the minimum 60grams/day as perscribed yet :(

Everyone has different tastes! I have used Jay Robb since the beginning of my pre-op diet and I tolerated it for 2 weeks pre-surgery, but after my surgery I cannot stand it  . Stupid me for buying it in bulk! I have several different extracts I use like almond, raspberry, mint, etc. - it's not cutting it anymore. But since I'm cheap-o I'll finish what I have and maybe try Isopure.< /p>

I have bought Jay Robb at the Vitamin shoppe and also Whole Foods (much cheaper at WF).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
