Good job! You're doing great! How has it been going back to work? Are u just having Protein drinks while working or...?

Mostly Protein Drinks, Soup & maybe scrambled egg in morning. It's taking me awhile to tolerate solids. I'm having to learn when to stop, to chew very well and to go SLOW. I've over-done it a few times...it's an on-going set of lessons. I'm basically learning my limits. If I eat too much, too fast or have advanced my diet too quickly, pain, nausea & vomiting results. Pretty good deterrent! BTW- no probs with work:) I took 2weeks off.

I seriously to this day wonder if I had surgery. Besides the fact of the weight coming off and me not being able to eat as much, I have to be like, "You did have surgery." LoL! I am now in the gym 3 times a week, no exceptions, and have been doing well with that. I can do 13 mins on the elliptical! I couldn't even do ONE minute before the surgery! Hope you have a smooth recovery as well!!!

I think my mother in law used Dr Balder. I used Dr Avara in Ocean Springs. Had surgery June 10th.

How was your surgery and overall experience with Dr. Avara? He is my surgeon also. I am still pre op. I almost done with the hoop jumping...then surgery at the end of sept.

It was great overall. Only problems I had were an allergic reaction to surgical tape. His nurse Dana is the best! The first 2-3 weeks are rough with the soreness, having to adjust and getting past head hunger but its so worth it.

I've lost 40 pounds since surgery and haven't really had anything make me sick. Just follow the plan they give you and hopefully all will be well. Good luck!

I was sleeved at Southern Surgical Hospital in Slidell by Dr. Balder. Great experience there! I made a mistake I was sleeved on 8/15/13 and had a hiatal hernia repair. Down 11 pounds now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
