I start puree on Monday and I'm actually excited LOL After two weeks on liquids, "real food" is sounding so good...even if it is mush :P

Anyone find any tricks to it? Any good "recipes"?

I personally am not a fan of puréed meat so I made tuna salad with light mayo, puréed onion and sweet pickles, and a splash of hot sauce bu however you like tuna salad should work fine. Just blend the ingredients so they are broken up.

If you like retried Beans, then warm them with shredded cheese and taco sauce or hot sauce.

There's a ricotta ame recipe on here too.

And egg beater omelettes are good with puréed veggies which I lie to then sautée so they aren't watery and some shredded cheese.< /p>

I am on Day 2 of mushies after 2 weeks of "full liquids" - and OMG - Taco Bell's Pintos n' cheese tasted like gold to me (it was the first thing I ate). Right now, I just sat down with a bowl of Hormel Turkey Chili w/beans - added 1 serving of cheddar cheese, blended it into a puree and heated it up! Just got home from grocery shopping and stocked up on Soups (other than "cream of" because I'm sick of them), tuna, greek yogurt etc. - anything that can be blended into yumminess in my "Magic Bullet!"

Oh that sounds good! :) So I don't have to puree tuna? I can just make it how I normally do?

I get to start mushy foods on Tuesday! I'm soo looking forward to it. I'm not sure what your Dr allows, mine is pretty easy. They said any soft food, as long as its chewed well. They don't make us puree anything, just chew it up well, and make sure its moist, and no hard foods. I have a list ready for what I will try next week. I will start with the softer items, and progress as my tummy allows. So far I have egg salad, devilved eggs, scrambled eggs, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab salad, refried Beans, mashed potatos, mashed sweet potatos, baked beans, cottage cheese, chili, canned fruit, fish, shrimp, scallops, canned veggies, egg drop Soup, turkey meatballs.

Yeah I didn't purée mine but if you like onions or something chunky, then purée tat. The tuna I mashed with the fork well. Also, remember to eat slow and chew well

I liked several of the Campbell's slow kettle cooked Soups. I pureed them -- they tasted great!

No purée here. Doc and NUT said you're more likely to get more food in because it takes the air out with purée foods, and besides who likes mush, so they skip that phase.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
