Is there any other protein besides shakes in phase 2?

Recommended Posts

Im having a lot of trouble getting in my Proteins during phase 2. I still cant eat so im on complete liquids, however, the thickness of the Protein Shakes and or powder does not allow me to drink in a timely manner. I can take in Water and thinner liquids a lot easier. Do those Protein Shots work and count for Protein? ? ANy other suggestions??? I only got 10 g of protein in yesterday. :(

Unjury makes a chicken broth Protein Powder. I haven't tried it yet (mine is still in the mail) but have heard great things from a friend of mine. She said she lived on it after her surgery. All the reviews on the site were good too.

I have a Unjury Soup every other day.....It really beats all the sweet shakes!

Unjury also makes a pre-made drink that is thin like Water. Has fruit favors like fruit punch, mango, grape, etc. really good. I hat think Protein Shakes too. Cost about $5 at GNC and have 40 grams of Protein.< /p>

I use Isopure low carb Protein powder. It isn't as sweet as some of the others, and not as thick. Plus it's 25g protein and only 6 ounces of liquid. So its less to drink than most. I think it tastes better than the others I tried too.

The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup powder is not only DELISH' date=' but is relatively thin. Should be great for you![/quote']

Unjury's website is where I bought mine - shipping was quick! When you're ready for something a little thicker, add a scoop to your "cream of _____" Soups. Delish and a nice change!

Premier Protein ready made shakes are thin and easier to get down than the thick shakes. They come in Choc and vanilla and you can buy them at Cotsco and SAMs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
