TMI - explosive diarrhea days after surgery?

I'm 3 weeks out also, same problem here. It has firmed up a little, but no way near normal. My best friend had gastric bypass last year and she explained that it will never be like it was unless you are dehydrated.

I wonder if that is more true for GB patients than VSG? My diarrhea only lasted about 2 weeks and now it's pretty normal. Had some Constipation until I was eating veggies regularly again.

I agree with TES that this is more likely for GB patients. After starting with diarrhea, I also suffered with Constipation until I could eat enough to add more veggies, whole grains, and fruit back to my diet.

And one more thing for you guys that are early out: Never trust a fart!

I'm exactly 5 weeks out with continued diarrhea. I can't take it anymore. I take immodium AD every 2-3 days, but as soon as it wears off I'm running to the bathroom. I've been on mushy food for two weeks and soft food for a week with no change. I've tried lactose free so it's not that. I go on vacation in two weeks to Europe and I'm dreading it. The doctor tested me for C Dif and it came back negative but said my white blood count was high so they are running more tests. I see no end in sight!

Totally normal! I asked the bariatric director at the hospital during my pre-op (she'd just had the surgery herself in January) what advice does she have for me that wasn't given to me in any of the packets and pre-op info that she wishes she'd known? Her answer: no warning diarrhea. I tucked my tail between my legs and bought some depends pre-op and they came in quite handy! liquid in - liquid out.

Hang in there. It should get better.

The only problem is I've been on mushy food for 2 weeks and soft food for 1 with no change. I'm nervous that I'll never be able to eat again!
