Have fun, be yourself, smile often and use protection. (That last part was a joke..... maybe... :D).

Well I have been married for several years and don't see myself going out on a first date with a new guy ever again. However, with this new weight loss...i feel like a new person. So I set up a "date" with my hubby. We haven't gone "out" in years. I felt nervous and excited. It was so fun. You are at a great place with the new you. So don't you settle for anything but the best. Be confident- that is the trait that men seem to admire the most. Love your self and be your self and it will be all good.

I definitely agree about having protection!!!!

being a little nervous, perfectly understandable

kindof like being a little nervous pre-WLS

but..........the surgery is over

and you have been successful by losing 34 lbs

WooHoo!!

i am sure you will will be just as successful on your first of many dates :)

As OP said, smile, be yourself and have fun :)

How exciting! Is this someone that knows you've been sleeved? What are you going to wear? Where/what are you guys gonna go/ do?

Thank you all for the encouragement and advice. This is a whole new world but I am going to be me :-))))

LI Gemini NY, he doesn't know I've been sleeved, not sure that will be a conversation for a first date - but who knows! We are going to a lively bar in the city which, even on a Monday, should have some atmosphere.

The clothes thing is a big question. It's a fairly casual bar, but I still want to look good. My body has changed hugely, even after a 34 lbs loss, and I am down 4-5 clothes sizes - but I still have the girls.... was fitted for a new bra and I am looking va-voom lol! But not sure what to wear, so will be spending a large part of the day doing a private fashion show to myself. Not that I have a lot of clothes to choose from :-)

Good for you on the weight loss and the first date. I can't wait until my time comes to be sleeved. Just be yourself. I don't know if you wear makeup but if you do, then go light to make it look all naturale. Wear something sexy but not too revealing. You want his imagination to wonder what's under the clothes. Be flirtatious by smiling, licking your lips, teasing him when you suck the straw that you're drinking from, etc. You will be fine. Don't stress too much about it. Just have a good time. Just keep the conversation going by asking him questions about himself. Most men I know love to talk about themselves to the tenth degree.

My new go to causal outfit. A nice pair of jeans, curvy straight or jeggings like in a dark wash. A tank top with embellishments and a blazer that matches the tank top. Or you can do a plain tank like a ribbed tank under the blazer and go with a long chunky necklace. And a nice pair of heels. Loafers would work too but heels lengthen the legs and gives me that sexy walk lol

I would skip the sleeve talk, DON'T drink from a straw and since its a bar idk how or what you're gonna drink. If you drink Water all night you'd seem a lil stiff but if you drink the devil's juice then lord child lol

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
