Honestly, who has had zero problems

Recommended Posts

I was revised from the Lapband to the sleeve on 4/22/13. I'm only down 31lbs but it's gone forever.... I've had no problems whatsoever, I thought for a while my DR just removed my band because I was feeling so well. I can tolerate everything so far, I just eat much smaller portions. This week I'm getting on a serious exercise routine & hopefully that will increase and speed up the weight loss. My only regret is I wish I would have done the sleeve instead of the band 5 yrs ago.

On July 3rd I will be 7 months post-op. Not a single problem. I didn't even have any gas pains from the surgery. I followed the progression of diet set by my doctor & support team (RN, NUT, etc) I exercise and I love it!!! Who would have thought that?!?!?!? You get into the routine & practice of eating Protein, low carbs, drinking the Water, exercising, tracking and it becomes your new normal. Good luck, we are all here to encourage & support you thru this.

I think like in anything else in life, people are more apt to comment on the negatives than the positives. Long ago I read that if a person has a bad experience they tell at least 10 people, but if they have a positive experience they might tell 1 or 2 people. This was from info I got at a conference I went to regarding medical practice management - but I think it's true of most things.

Thank you ALL for replying to this thread! Surgery is 4 days away for me and I now feel very confident with my decision! Going in with a very positive attitude now and looking forward to living a healthy lifestyle for the first time in 46 years! I have used and abused my body for far too long! Thank you.... Feeling more excited than ever!

I have considered my sleeve journey flawless so far, no issues. All the normal stuff. Rough first week, hating puréed, then the great success' with weight coming off and new eating habits but then some stalls and a shin splint when I started exercising again. Doing well though and really nothing I didn't expect or know I could possibly have to deal with.

Ok. In response to a couple of other posters as to what I consider problems and what negatives I've seen on this board: the answer to both questions is really the same. People who throw up every time they eat, having to go back to the hospital for dehydration, feeling sad, depressed, and like they have ruined their lives. There was even one woman who posted that not only did she regret it but she also had a deep sense of shame for having done it. Personally I was sleeved on June 18 and counting my one week pre op diet am down around 25 pounds. I have no problems other than gas. But ,I've seen posts here about storybook results becoming nightmares of puking, sleeves twisting, becoming suddenly unable to eat at all. Even though things are good today, I guess I'm j u st looking for assurance that they be good tomorrow. And like Cait12, I tend to think too much.

No problems here! I was sleeved 6/3 and I'm down 19 pounds. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision. :)

I wanted to know because what one person considers a problem, to me at least, is really subjective. The medical risks I'm sure we all want to avoid, but having done our research we outweigh the risks vs. the benefits. I'm not sleeved yet so I was curious because my experience on this site has been positive or maybe I should say I haven't read anything that has caused me to change mind. What I do know is that right now my quality of life is being compromised and I'm too young to have the same symptoms that my 72 yr old mother has. I ask myself if I feel like my 72 year old mother now what will my life be like IF I live to be 50, 60, or 72??? I pray when I'm sleeved that, like you, I have no problems.

I am just over 6 weeks out and was a band to sleeve conversion. I had 2 minor issues, I spiked a fever in the hospital about 12 hours after surgery and the nurse scared me half to death. It went back down on it own, before they even had a white cell count back. And my lapband port incision is healing really slowly. It is healing, but seems to be taking it's sweet time. :( I'm down 27 pounds, and several clothing sizes already, and the doctor warned me that sometimes when you are a former band patient, the weight loss may be slower. I'm not seeing that, as I seem to be on the same track as everyone else with regard to weight loss.

Three months out... zero problems. Never struggled with hydration, Got 70-90 grams of Protein in consistently even from the start, Tolerated all foods when introduced. Never slime, never throw up, Satisfied with portion size, swallowing pills in the hospital, minimal post-op pain or nausea, Incisions healed within days, no leaks, no blood clots. First labs were perfect.

My sleeve has been very good to me.

Thanks to all who have given feedback. I worry too much I know and I do agree that most of the time people who don't have issues don't post. And to Brand-new, I fully understand about your Mom. My Mom died at 73 and all of the things that led her there were connected to her weight. I didn't want that for myself. So I did go ahead and do it. Or as my brother said "Quit walking to the edge. Jump or shut up." Frustrated advice from him but I took it all the same.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
