Pregnancy and diarrhea

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am about 1.5 years post surgery and I'm four months pregnant. Either I'm very constipated to where I take a laxative (okd by my obgyn) or I have very liquidy bowel movements for a few days...

Anyone else experience this? I'm worried about the baby not gettin enough nutrients, etc

Also, since I've become pregnant I've only gained like 2 pounds. Is that normal for someone who has had surgery to gain so little four months along?

Btw, I started at 375 and I lost for six months got down to 240 now since pregnant I'm 242.5

I am 37 weeks pregnant and I had the same issue during my first trimester. I could almost count exactly 4-5 days without a bowl movement and a day of diarrhea following. Just keep on taking your Vitamins and I'm sure there is nothing to worry about. You can always ask your OB or surgeon if you're worried about it.

I am 3 months pregnant. Having the same thing going on. I have gained about 4 lbs. I gain and lose the same few lbs. Doc told me not to worry so much about weight gain till the end of the 2nd trimester. So for now I am not going to stress. I do feel restriction similar to what it was when I was just out of surgery some days. It's a chore to eat anything. Still battling morning sickness most days... Hoping to feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
