Are you on a PPI? How is your potassium intake?

Your PPI should be taken on a regular basis. Some Dr.'s prescribe it only once per day and some break up the strength of the- dose into a smaller strength and increase the amount to twice a day. I asked about your potassium because when you get cramps it is often prevented by an adequate consumption of potassium... now this is if it is typical cramps. Since you are on week 2 and moved up a week, puree a banana with your shakes that should help a lot.

Other on here SWEAR by drinking some pickle juice to relieve cramping. I will admit that one time my cramps got so bad when I was in week 2 that I gave up and drank 2 oz of the stuff. Within 30 minutes my cramps went away. Coincidence? Not sure...LOL

Thank u. I was taking pot b4 surgery bc I hate bananas. But I quit taking all. The dr said I really didn't them. But the heartburn is the worse right now. Get it after eating every thing. Even Popsicles

Try adding 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar to a large glass of Water and sip it slowly. It has helped with reflux. Seems counter intuitive but it's an old fashioned remedy that's been around a long time.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
