holiday eating

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I've posted...sorry. I read something today on a four hour car ride from NJ to MD that I thought everyone could appreciate. The article discussed holiday eating and how difficult it is to stay on track. I am almost 9 months post op and

I' ve lost 77.5lbs. Because of that I decided to not indulge in the holiday goodies this year. It has been difficult to do,:) but my size 12 jeans are worth it and being able to lay on the couch with both of my kids at the same time...but I am rambling.....

The article states if you eat an indulging food and it causes you to feel guilt and sadness is it really a treat to eat it.

Just a thought,

Happy 2007

Jessica

Good for you! I can't wait til I can lay on the couch with my husband and son too. That's awesome. I wish I did as well as you over the holidays. unfortunately I didn't do great but my first fill is next week so I'll just keep trying. This is a bad time of year. That article is very true - but somehow no matter how guilty and sad we feel when we "indulge" we do it anyway, even knowing its not a "treat." Have a very happy New Year.

That's true - it DOESNT make me feel good to overindulge in food and end up half cut from too much wine. I just feel bloated and tired and awful afterwards - so I dont do it anymore.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
