Just had my surgery date moved to July 1st - I'm SOOOOO scared. I've become irrationally nervous and I don't seem to be able to calm my anxiety. I wish I could also get excited, but, all I feel is fear! anyone else freaking out? :o

I think some fear is normal. Your life is changing. It's a positive change though. It will be hard work for all of us and there will be bumps along the way but remember the end goal is a healthier, happier you! I'm scared too, but when I think about not having to worry about all the weight related health problems because in choosing to make a healthy change in my life it puts a little of my fear to the back of my mind.

Thanks Mooregirl! You are absolutely right. I had a neighbour take my son to an activity this afternoon with her son (they are both 4) as I was exhausted and didn't feel up to it. I look forward to having more physical and emotional energy for him!

As much as I am nervous/scared about having this life-changing surgery, I'm MORE scared to NOT have it. I know that if I just keep doing what I'm doing, I'm headed down a road of medical problems and shorter lifespan.

Remembering what I'll be reclaiming after this surgery (my health, better quality of life in the short term and the long term) really helps turn those fears into peace and strength.

I feel the same way. I'm nervous about the surgery, but I'm also anxious to start my new healthy lifestyle.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
