Fiddleman 4,376 Posted June 21, 2013 Sometimes people eat when they are bored. I was one of those people. After being "on plan" for a year almost, boredom is about the one circumstance that pulls me back into bad habits. I have not slipped yet, but my mind is going there. It doesn't help that is is cloudy outside (lack of sun makes my mood lower for some reason). If you are not eating when bored, then what are you doing instead? Sometimes it is not as easy as just reading a book, watching TV or exercising. Sometimes it is boredom while working and you still have to work, yet you have these feelings of satisfying boredom with food. Even if you could do one of these activities, sometimes you just don't want to drag your lazy butt out of your chair. What are your thoughts? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Private Sleever 50 Posted June 21, 2013 When I get bored: Take a walk Pick up my phone or iPad I have a radio on my desk w the iPod dock & play it low that only I hear it. My music is the best therapy and it gets me through the day. I have my favorite radio station that keeps me entertained in the morning instead of coffee. They say when you get bored, work in something that you can at the time instead of eating. You'd be surprised. It really works.
slikchik10 85 Posted June 21, 2013 Although I'm just a month out, my surgery was a band revision. I really came to this 2nd decision thinking on what did I at least learn the first time and what is STILL a challenge for me. Boredom eating is it. I've had a few evenings in the past week where I'll catch myself thinking like that again, but since it's in the evening, I go brush my teeth to try and curb the urge. I also participate with writing letters to the troops so I try to write letters when I feel like that since it gets me outside myself instead of focusing on me. The summer weather is full on here so the evenings aren't cooling off all that much...grrr. I also like the post the other day that spoke on how exercise for some just has to be the "job we do." So, on those moments of boredom, my Wii comes out and Just Dance 4 goes in to have a bit of fun, because it has to be my job...and I'm bored. Thanks for the discussion start. :-) PS--being a teacher during the day usually doesn't give me time to be bored at work. Summers can sometimes be my Achilles heel. 2 Fiddleman and ProudGrammy reacted to this
