7.5 pound gain... dammit

Recommended Posts

So i dont know whats going on.. I work out everyday.. lots of weight training.. decided to treat myself to a slice of pizza after hitting the 6 month mark and losing 71 pounds. Pizza is my favorite food so the fact that this is my first slice since surgery.. well hell, i saw no shame in it! Anywho, i noticed my feet were really swollen and menstrual cycle has been doing all sorts of tricks on me in the past couple weeks. Today i step on scale, and the **** is reading 192.5.. What the hell??? I thought i was done with the 190s.. a 7.5lb gain? really scale? I'm really hoping this is Water weight because of the swollen feet. Got a perscription from my doc for a water pill (furosemide).. Hopefully this does the trick. That was very discouraging

If your close to TOM, then yeah it's probably Water. Not to mention sodium in the pizza helped hold in the Water. Couple good pees and you should be fine.

Congrats on your loss!! :-) and for fighting pizza for that long too!!

Don't take the Water pill! It will screw with your body and will probably cause you to retain water for a couple of days after taking it. All they do is dehydrate your body and once you start drinking water again, you will probably retain water all over again. Just drink lots of water and that will flush out the sodium, it may take a day or 2. Eating pizza never makes me retain that much water but If I'm nearing ovulation I usually gain about 3 pounds the day before I ovulate and usually the weight is gone 2 days after ovulation, same with my period. I'm sure you didn't eat enough to gain 7.5 pounds, so don't sweat it :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
