Guest Posted June 21, 2013 How long are you supposed to be on liquids? Now that its done, just be careful from here on out. A leak could be life threatening. (Hugs)

DonRodolfo 1,416 Posted June 21, 2013 I know I'm going to get chewed out for this. I really need motivation I'm 6 days post-op and Im supposed to be on full liquids. I ate a baked potato today and 4 chicken nuggets all throughout the day plus all the liquids. I've been upset and crying the last two hrs because I know I could've possibly damaged something. I know the reason I did this surgery and I'm trying my hardest but I gave it. 1 jenlen reacted to this

TES 858 Posted June 21, 2013 I think something that will help is to visualize your little swollen stomach. Right now it is only about the circumference of a coffee stirrer (not even a straw). So when you think about what you eat, think about it trying to get thru that little space. That is good motivation to stay on plan tomorrow (great that you have your 2 oz containers already made up!). I would try to think of the liquid phase not as a "diet," but as something that is medically necessary, sort of like any pre-op instructions that you had. Be glad your plan allows pudding and yogurt at this stage--I couldn't touch anything like that until 3 weeks post-op. Good luck...I know you will do better tomorrow! Be careful, bc complications like leaks can be really awful, and as someone else said, life threatening. 1 Crazypants reacted to this
KhadijahRose 66 Posted June 21, 2013 I did the same thing with pizza , but I ended up ok. I'm 3 months out next week and down 60 pounds. Don't fret, do as others have suggested, get back on the band wagon and try to remember that the consequences of not following your surgeons orders and eating whats good for your body will not just be extra pounds anymore but could be a life threatening situation. One of my biggest motivating thoughts to stay on track is that I could really hurt my body if I don't. Hoping the best for you! You got this!
fattie 53 Posted June 21, 2013 Did you chew until they were mushy I hope. You need to take a step back and realize why you had this surgery. You are probably alright, but you can not keep this behavior up. Right now your stomache is numb because of the nerves that were cut during the operation. So you probably would not feel the pain if you did any damage. Call your surgeon and let him know what you did. Maybe he can have you come in and get a barium test to make sure. I wish you the best. Just remember food will always be there. You need to treat your stomache like it is a newborns stomache. 1 TES reacted to this
Susie in Lima 320 Posted June 21, 2013 Hey Darlin, This new journey is hard and yeah, you shouldn't have eaten that stuff but you know that. Just take this as a turning point and make a stand to do better. You will screw up from time to time but let that be later on. We dont want you to damage your new tummy while it is healing. If you start to feel like you are struggling, get on here an talk to us, dont give into those food demons! You can do this!!!!! Just let your tummy have a little time to heal an then you will be able to eat baked potatoes and chicken before you know it. Stop beating yourself up, just get up, dust off and start over! Good job about being prepared for tomorrow. Keep that up and get rid of things that could sabotage you...if dont bye them and dont keep them around, it will be much easier on you! Remember you can do this and you are worth it! Sending good thoughts your way! 2 TES and maybaby reacted to this
jensjoy28 351 Posted June 21, 2013 Kicking someone when they're down has never been my style...you know that you slipped up, and so soon after surgery those decisions aren't to be taken lightly...however, what I think would be a better way to expend your energy than crying about the mistake is to a) give yourself an honest answer for why you succumbed to temptation and what you are going to do the next (million) time(s) to have a different outcome.
