Not literally! I would LOVE for someone/anyone to tell me this surgery is not terrible (pain wise). I've heard some compare it to a gall bladder removal. I've had 3 C-sections which were awful! My gall bladder removal was easy! Looking for advice!

I thought it was alright. I still have my sealed bottle of liquid Vicodin. I've never had children or surgery before the sleeve, but if the pain is about the same, then I don't see why people complain about the pains of childbirth.

I was pretty miserable & in pain the first 4 days. Felt awful awful awful. But now I'm much better.

I'm on my third day post op. The pain from the incision areas are not bad, my stomach just feels sore, my suffering is coming from my back and my severe headaches--not the surgery itself. It's probably the gas pain and meds still in my system. Trying to walk it off.

I just had my sleeve on Monday 6/17. I have have 2 kids the pain in having children is the actual childbirth process not the recovery. Recovery from the sleeve in my opinion is only after the first 2 days after being released from the hospital. Basically it was the nausea. But you just have to literally walk it off. I marched in place for five minutes, sat down, sip, burp, rest, and repeat, and that got me through it. No pain meds at home, didn't need them. I'm on day 4 post OP and I'm feeling good. Good luck! I wish you the best.

SeriouslyChange: there's a reason it's called "the miracle of birth" - squeezing something the size of a cantalope out of your body whether vaginally or via c-section is incredibly painful. One part of the miracle though is that, atleast for me, after I gave birth, there was no pain and no real memory of the pain. I guess that's a gift from God; otherwise no sane woman would ever get pregnant a 2nd time ;-)

This felt exactly the same as my gallbladder surgery, honestly just a little more nausea.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
