14 weeks out and i think im stalling :-(

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery March 6th 2013 weighed in at 278 and currently I'm 215 and the scale isn't moving and it's been almost a week...I guess I know y since I hardly eat and don't get my Protein in and have been doing bad when it comes to drinking water...but nonetheless it's still frustrating :-( how is everyone else doing?

I had a 7 week stall and many other stalls. Just be patient, but if you can't then tweek a few things in your diet/excercise routine and see if that helps. Stalls happen.. Hang in there

Kit, I stalled out after week 2! I am now in week 4 with no change. My doc said stalls will happen but I didn't expect one so soon. I started concentrating on getting my Protein and Water and am slowly increasing exercise. Fingers crossed that this breaks loose soon.

The fact that I stalled out is what made me look for online support groups and I am so happy I found this one. Many others have posted about their stalled times and it gives me much hope that it is just part of the process and does not mean the weight loss period is over. Hang in there and maybe try to make a few small changes (increases of protein, exercise and or water) to see if that helps.

I had my surgery April 15th and was losing 2 pounds a day for about a month and I have now stalled for the last 3 weeks I have only lost 1.8 pounds. I was working out with a trainer and decided to wait a little while on the weight lifting so I could see some results on the scale. Does anyone eat bread. I have some carbs and wonder if that is slowing it down. I usually have wheat when I do. But I use a calorie counter and I am way below what I should have most of the time ? Does anyone else keep up with calories and how much is a good amount ?

I am exactly 1 week after you, and have been on a two week stall. I am still on the pureed stage and average between 35 to 60 carbs a day. Calories are not as much watched as is the Protein and Carbs...wanting about 60 for both. I keep track of my daily intake on MyFitnessPal.

Well I haven't counted my carbs but I am sure I under 60 a day when I do have bread it is not much. I know many people go through periods of stalling but wonder what most people lose a month on average that have gone through stalling ?

I would not be sure of that without tracking. I don't eat bread or Pasta and still frequently struggle with keeping my carbs under 60. My Fitness Pal or a similar food tracker may help you to see where carbs are sneaking in.

I've actually been using my fitness pal and lose it and the carbs are under 60 most of the time. I never have pasta- it's definitely the worst and I guess I'm gonna have to go back to completely cutting the bread out. My dr said I could eat carbs ( wheat ) if I had room left so I didn't think it would matter much, but it must be . I'm sure every doctors advice is different, thanks though at least I know many people do need to keep carbs down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
