huligoo 75 Posted June 20, 2013 reaction to a C-section 30 years ago giving birth to my youngest sister. Does that usually mean that I will have a reaction to anesthesia too? A C-section delivery is way different that having the gastric sleeve procedure. Also, I'm pretty sure science had advanced enough to have way better anesthesia meds and anesthesiologists! This is what came up in conversation with my Mom and sisters yesterday...I wonder though if it's a true story! lol Maybe they are trying to scare me into NOT having the surgery? lol Thoughts feedback? sprgls 11 Posted June 20, 2013 My mom had a reaction also. I was in surgery 70 min. Recovery 15 min. No reaction. I hope that helps

Yaya 81 Posted June 20, 2013 I would bring it up with your anesthesiologist at your pre-op appointment so they will be prepared. Drugs are very different from 30 years ago, but there may be something they can use which is known to be safer in allergic patients.

SueJH 205 Posted June 20, 2013 Even with the medicine to prevent it, I was still extremely nauseous after surgery. When my Dad had surgery, he woke up feeling fine and went out for a nice meal afterwards - no telling how some people react.
