I had my surgery this past Monday. It was so painful but finally got it under control

I came home yesterday. I felt ok.

This morning I feel so much pain! The pain pump at the hospital was so much help.

Vicodin doesn't seem to be helping much.

Did others feel this way after the surgery and getting home? How did you over come the pain??

Thanks in advance everyone!

I was sleeved on 6/18, came home on 6/19. Swollen and sore, gas pains are ridiculous but walking really helps. The worst part for me at home is the disgusting liquid meds! Hang in there, it can only get better!

I just got sleeved on Tuesday (June 18th) and I am having major gas pain as well, especially to my back. Heating pads have worked GREAT for my back and pushing that gas forward (gas is less painful in tummy area--for me). I've been getting up every hour, on the hour to walk. Hopefully this gas will start to make its exit. I'm also having a hard time getting liquids in as well :(

walk as much as you can. The first week is the hardest part. After 2 weeks you won't even remember the pain much :)

Thanks everyone! I feel guilty just laying around the house doing nothing. Kids and husband have been very helpful but I wish I can just fast forward to when I feel better lol

I have to remind myself I just had the surgery on Monday! And I will feel better!

I was sleeved on 6/18 and except for the gas pains and soreness at incision sites I don't have much pain. Still though I'm kind of iffy on taking a shower even though I was told I could start today and remove the bandage and band aids beneath just leave the sterile strips alone. Think maybe a bit afraid of what is under there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
