Hi all I'm going to get very personal with this question. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op. I may urinate three times a day and my first one of the day is dark yellow and when I have a bowel movement its like a small child use the bathroom. My question to everyone is in the beginning were you like this and should I be concern?

The same thing happened to me... It's my understanding that the dark urine is from the Vitamins and possibly not enough fluids. Small BM's can be caused by, well, not a lot needs to come out since our only taking in small amounts of food or Protein Shakes. And yes, if your having pain while urinating (minus Constipation which can be due to pain meds) call the doc. Hope that helps.

Unless you're in some severe pain, I wouldn't worry about the dark urine. I was freaked out at first as well but found out it's because of all the Vitamins I'm taking. I notice on days that I forget to take my vitamins, my urine is normal color. As for the BM.. you're putting very little in, therefore you're going to get very little back, so to speak. lol. It's natural.

Be careful with the whey shots. There are different types of Protein. You want to only take in whey isolate which is a cleaner version. The other version Whey Concentrate is not absorbed by the body so it is wasted. You can research the differences more on body building forums but my instructions from the Dr were very clear to stay with only the Isolate.

New Whey Liquid Protein is found at Walmart it's 42 protein grams and a protein isolate-6 tubes is about 15 bucks and individual tubes is about 3 bucks

I'm having that issue too. As we speak I'm eating tiny bites of refried Beans and with every swallow' date=' a gas bubble forms. My doc says it's very very normal for the first few months to experience this. It's very annoying.[/quote']

I hear ya about the gas and gas pressure.... I take chewable anti gas/simethicone chewable.... they are a life saver and only about 88 cents a bottle at Walmart for the generic brand Dr. choice... I have a bottle in my kitchen, my purse and by my chair

Dark ursine means you need more Water. The pepple poop is normal.

Can you guys tell me how many ounces of food you eat? Im three Weeks out, and im having an issue figuring out how much I can eat at once. Dont know if anyone else can relate to this dilemma. I was separating my portions to half an ounce about...any ideas? Guess I will go back to that small small portion

I'm eating about 2.5 oz I ate a 5.3oz container of yogurt it took an hour to eat. It really depends on what I'm eating. I had one scramble egg with cheese that may take 1 to 2 hrs for me to eat. I'm only eating meats or foods with high Protein because after I eat the meat I don't have room for nothing else.

I can handle anywhere from 2-5oz.. Depending on what it is. If it's a solid Protein like meat, I can't really handle anymore than about 2-2.5 oz. If it's more liquid or pureed I can handle more. I'm a little over 4 wks out.

That's how I eat.

I guess I thought I was getting to where I could eat more so I packed my lunch with a little larger portion amount. Instead I felt like dying. I think im having issues figuring out when im full.

I thought the same and was worried I stretched my stomach already but as posted earlier I think it just depends bon the consistency of the food smooth or pureed I can eat more of but I can't eat the same amount with meats. Im still having trouble at times with eating slowly Foods that some said took them an hour I sometimes finish in half that time.

I find it so hard to figure out...guess it's just seeing what works

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
