I'm with you guys. I've been at a stall for about 3 weeks. Just when I think I broke my stall my weight goes back up a little bit so I've been playing with a few pounds going up and down. I've been good with my food choices. One time i had 2 bites of birthday cake, but that was a week ago. I'm sure this must be the three weeks stall but my stall is lasting 3 weeks or more and I'm trying not to freak out and just do what I'm told and hopefully everything will work out in time. I'm sure if we all keep up with our Protein, liquids and healthy choices, we will succeed.

I was feeling like this too. Today I cried a little because I feel like I've done this major surgery and I'm failing at it. I'm absolutely screwing up the Water. I hate the Protein Drinks. (Hate).

I record my weight once a week but I weigh myself daily. That scale sets my mood for the entire day and I obsess over it. Plus I read these boards and feel like everyone is losing more and faster. In my head I know not to compare but how can I not?

Omgoodness, I went to see my family doctor today and he dosent want me to eat cheese or too much deli meat and eggs anymore. He wants me to have Beans, tofu, fish and only VERY lean nonprocessed meat for Protein, along with veggies, fruit and healthy grains. He says he's worried about me eating only protein. He says too much protein is bad for the kidneys and going into ketosis is very very dangerous. NOW I'M ALL CONFUSED! !

Personally I would listen to your surgeon.

I'm going to put in a call to my surgeon tomorrow. My family doctor says that he wants to see me eat a balanced diet no matter how small my new stomach is. Humm

I can see why a family doctor would say those things but we have to remember, we are very recently out of surgery, it's only been 5 weeks. Although our incisions are healed it was still MAJOR surgery. The stomach will take 6 months to heal completely. we know that we must move, get our fluids in and our Protein.

Yes high protein diets are harsh on kidneys so that's why we have to hydrate, to keep kidneys clean. Second, I doubt anyone one of us is going crazy high on the protein (like over 100g). 60-80g is not going to shut down kidneys unless we are already in kidney failure. If you are diabetic or have blood pressure problems then your kidneys are more fragile so hydrate and watch your diet.

Most of us are probably getting to the more normal stage of the diet, so we can start being more balanced. Eat cheese, eggs, eat deli meat, eat Beans, greek yogurt, sweet potatoes, turkey and chicken. I keep my calories between 600-800 per day with protein at 60-65g and carbs around 50. Yes I am in moderate ketosis (get the urine sticks to check yourself). But I take my Vitamins, I limit myself to one Protein Shake a day if I'm running short on protein but try very hard to eat my protein instead. And guess what, I have a BM almost everyday. My urine is light color by early evening. I lose a few pounds every week. Why, because I am in ketosis, my body is burning fat instead of glucose. Is there carbs in my diet:yes (that's why I can poop so well). But it's just enough to keep me in regular, make my body function normally and still use fat as primary fuel source. I rarely eat processed food, I cook often, freezing ton of leftovers. Have I gone off the diet, yes (seems potato chips are a slider food for me, fml). Do I miss stuffing my face, hell yes! Do I have to force myself to exercise, yes! Do I track everything I stuff in my face, yes. Do i weigh my food so i know exactly hoe much i eat, yes! Is all this like a second full time job, yes.

Its hard.

Somedays I want to go back and not have the surgery. I want to feel normal and not sacred of everything I eat.

If I was stalled three weeks I would cry too. But I also know that we are too early In this journey to think it won't work. Our bellies are still swollen and we are eating less. It's up to us to make sure we eat healthy protein rich foods as natural as possible for the next few months. So we can heal and develop better habits and change our tastes and conquer our cravings (damn you cape cod chips)!

So I guess my point is both doctors are right, we need to eat balanced and healthy.

...end of soapbox rant...

I gave up on them awhile ago. I just cant tolerate them, I get sooo nauseous. I get my Protein in with Isopure Water it has 40g of protein and then when I choose my meals I choose protein 1st. I also sometimes drink slimfast 321 low carb shake for Breakfast in addition to the isopure, it has 20g of protein. So most days I get all my protein in that way sometimes over. Its the water I struggle with getting enough of.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but it looks like I may have broken my stall. I have been bouncing back and forth between 237 and 235 for about 3 weeks and this morning I was 233.4.... Oh I hope that means that I am moving out of this plateau! I have faith in this process and this new life, and I know the weight isn't just going to melt off in a month or so, but I was really hoping to be losing a little faster than I am now. It is so frustrating when you go through all this pain and suffering to not be seeing the results you want.... praying that number drops again just a bit tomorrow!

I'm still stalling... it's been a month at the same weight. :-( I'm starting to freak out a little.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
