Sounds like we all have the same jitters. Last night I dreamt about surgery every time I dozed off. I have to admit I did not get much sleep. Good luck tomorrow everyone. C'mon Monday 11am!

I have to admit I'm a little scared. I have never had any surgery before. Hopefully I don't freak out too much!

I'm almost ready for tomorrow! I just spent the weekend with my family taking the train down to San Diego and going to Sea World. I was still on my 14-day pre-op liquid diet, so I went to dinner at a restaurant, two continental breakfasts and all day at Sea World and just had my shakes. The hardest was the restaurant giving me grief about outside food/drink, but they were cool once I explained I was on a liquid diet.

I am very calm - not nervous at all. That's how I know this is the right thing for me. Surprisingly, I am getting grief from my family (parents, sister) who are all aware of my struggles in the past. I know it comes more from concern for my health and safety, but it still kind of irks me a little. But, regardless, I am confident in my decision and I have the support of my husband, who is the most important!

What am I taking to the hospital? a fuzzy robe, my phone/charger, my nook, my toothbrush and my face cream (nasty sunburn from yesterday). I was debating on taking the ipad, but I think I can deal without it. Hopefully the hospital has WiFi, so I can check in with all of you tomorrow!

Prayers for all of you for a successful surgery and speedy recover!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
