I've been on liquids since yesterday. No 2 week pre op liquids, thank goodness. The 4th was enjoyed with a visit to Coney Island for some fireworks, Nathans hot dog and cheese fries ! I have a 8:30am checkin for 10:30 am start time! Woohoo. May we all have a comfortable and uneventful recovery!

I'm in Brooklyn, at Methodist hospital with Dr. Gorecki. How has your experience been at St. Luke's ?

Good morning my fellow July 8th sleevers.

It's exciting to just have the last three days / last weekend' date=' before our new self. I thought it was going to be difficult staying off all the bad holiday foods, but maybe due to the nerves it has been rather easy. I hope you all enjoyed a nice holiday yesterday.

My mission for this weekend is the following:

pack my bag, still need to get some slippers.

get a massage ( To be as relaxed as possible)

Clean my house really well

And truly just enjoy this special count down with my family. I have a daughter who is 19, who she and I share the same struggle with weight, except I, with the medical problems that come with it. She is very excited for me. Our goal is to start a journey together. Me with my sleeve and she with a strong will. My husband is also very supportive. I hope I can influence my family transition into improved eating habits, so that our family of five can overall improve to better health.

Anyone like to share what their weekend count down must do is?[/quote']

The massage is a great idea! I'm packed for Monday and at this point, I'm just anxious to get to surgery!!! Best of luck to you!

It's so strange the difference in pre-op diets. But come Monday, we are all in the same place. Beginning a whole new healthier journey. Good luck to my fellow 8'ers! =)

My time is Monday at 3:30. I think it will be very tough all those hours with nothing to drink. Worst of all, the anticipation and count down.

It's bitter sweet, kind of scared, but looking forward to it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
