I know what the general purpose is of this app but I am curious as to why you use it? What is your main goal? What is the main thing you want out of it? Do you try to stay at a particular calorie range? Please explain your view :D

I love mfp.

Most people grossly under estimate their calorie intake when not journaling their food. I do have a loose calorie goal. Something I don't want to gk over but I don't mind of I'm under by a couple hundred. I can log the calories I've burned and I LOVE knowing that info.

I like knowing how much Protein I'm consuming, carbs, sodium, etc.

The way I see it, I'm different than people that don't have to track. I figure this is what I have to do for the rest of my life and I'm okay with that. I don't want things to get out of hand and I know I could without tracking, very easily.

I also like mfp because I can look back through previous meals I've had to see when I lost well or to get ideas to eat. It's Also fun to have the support and camradery (sp?) of friends

Accountability. Even when I make a less than ideal choice I track it. People fool themselves on Portion Control and calories etc. i realize that this is a lifestyle for me and I will have to track forever. Even the bad stuff. I also like to watch sugar intake. If I can keep it under 40g I am less hungry and lose better. And Protein at least 65. Without MFP I wouldn't know. I also love watching what others eat and get ideas and recipes. I can't recommend it enough. I am out 15 weeks tomorrow and down about 46 lbs and have not had a stall (knock on wood). I credit it to tracking and keep sugar grams as low as possible and protein at least 65. My ID is kenmj11 if you want to link to me.

I've always had better success at losing weight when I track. I also track my exercising and weight lifting. Also there seems to be a different vibe on MFP than on VST. Almost all the friends that I have on MFP are WLS people and they all seem genuinely more supportive and less cliquey than what I often see here.

I use it to track Protein and carbs. I don't really use any of the other features though.

I use it almost everyday to track my Protein and calories.... I find the days I dont use it are the days I dont hit protein or go out of range in my calorie goal.

I downloaded & tracked my calorie intake today on myfitnesspal. I needed the wake up call! Weight loss has stopped, my caloric intake is a lot more than I thought & my Protein less. Good tool if you chart honestly to yourself, I need to get back on track! Eat small, Be small!

I log everything bite that goes into my mouth and everything I drink. It helps me keep track of not only my calories, but my Protein, carbs, sugar and Water intake. I also input my exercise which helps keep me motivated as well.

I am newly signed up to MFP but I am thrown off because its suggested cal a day for me is WAY HIGH! Like over 1700..... And I am worried that the other recommended intakes aren't accurate. Too bad there wasn't a MFP for sleeved people.

I track ALL my calories and my Protein. I also weigh every morning and I weigh and/or measure my food.

MFP is just part of the big picture. My new normal. My husband said it best when he said "It's like a dashboard on the car, it helps you know what's going on "under the hood" and if there is a problem, you know it right away"

I thought it was a perfect analogy.

Whoever said you cannot pay attention to the MPF recommended calories, is 100% correct. It suggested a little over 1700 calories for me. I NEED 1300 to maintain. If I go much above that, I gain, at 1200 I start losing again. It's a fine line....but 1700, the scale would start moving alright, and I'd be buying larger clothes again!!! Enter it all manually!!!

You can change your calorie goal under edit profile and net calorie goal. :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
