Sumsuz68 53 Posted June 19, 2013 I am 3 1/2 months post op. Everything is great except for the fact I am finding it extremely difficult getting all my liquids in. How much am I supposed to have each day? Pre surgery I was a Water drinker and could easily drink 48 oz and then have another 20+oz of Diet Coke. But these days I feel like I'm having to choose to eat or drink half the time and eating wins. I think I'm only getting about 30-40 oz between water and Powerade Zero. I'm sure that's not enough, but I just can't seem to drink more than that. Is anyone else having this issue? How do you get it all in????? And I'm not a coffee or tea person so I can't even count that.
patiscuba 28 Posted June 19, 2013 i am seriously having the same issue/ and to complicate it I hate all the drinks with chemical sweetners, and Water makes me nauseous. I wish I had an answer, because I have litteraly tried nearly every drink in my grocery store, and since surgery, I just can barley get anything down. sometimes apple juice is ok with a bit of water in it, but besides my protien drinks drinking is a huge issue for me

gypsyjolie 38 Posted June 19, 2013 Iced herbal tea (mint or other non-caffeinated teas) saved me - also Water with lemon in it. I hated all the sweetened stuff too.
Sumsuz68 53 Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks guys, but how many ounces am I supposed to be having each day?
Vixynne 695 Posted June 19, 2013 My NUT told me to get 64 oz. post-op, but others might have different rules. From what you ladies are saying, it sounds like 64 oz. will be a challenge for me to get to!
No game 14,437 Posted June 19, 2013 At 3 1/2 months 64oz.. it takes planning and dedication but you should at LEAST be getting that.. Oh and you said you "think" you only get 30 to 40oz. Get a container! I use a Powerade zero bottle (32oz) I drink 1 poweraid a day then make sure to fill it up two more times a day to get 96oz A day.
ChristineR 128 Posted June 19, 2013 64 oz a day of calorie free, non carbonated drink is what I was told. I think it's the usual 8 cups a day whether we had surgery or not.
fattie 53 Posted June 19, 2013 Try sf popsicles, those are counted as liquid also.
