So many blenders...decisions decisions...help de decided

Recommended Posts

So i spent my entire lunch break looking at blenders and am undecided. I am trying to decide between the MagicBullet, NutriBullet or the Hamilton Beach51101 personal blender. All of which have awesome reviews on Amazon. Which blender are you guys using. I want something that is going to last but I'm also not trying to spend $120+

I got the Ninja for about $100. It was top rated on Consumer Reports. Working really well for me.

I got the Ninja at costco. It has a lot of bells and whistles (works as a food processor, etc) -- I couldn't be happier with it. I think it was right around $120.

I use it every single day.

I did the magic bullet and quite honestly only really used it in the purée stage. It worked pretty well even with chicken and gravy. Nowadays only my son uses it to make his fruit smoothie concoctions.

49.99 at target...

I got the Nutribullet from Bed Bath and Beyond. It was $99.99 but I used my 20% off coupon, so it came to $80- something with tax. It is a great blender but can be foamy on top of some shakes, which I just spoon off before drinking.

If you want just a regular blender, I'd go to Goodwill or some other thrift store. You could get one for under $10. Or ask friends or relatives if they have one they don't want. Most people have them and don't use them. Then you can see if you really would use it. The if you use it all the time, I'd look at one with all the bells and whistles. Just my opinion, I'm old school that way!

I got the Party Bullet because it was on sale after Christmas for 60% off. Same thing as the magic bullet - just has more cocktail-shaped cups. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't spend that much. I used it quite a bit during the puree stage, but have not used it at all since - really only used it for 2 weeks. For my Protein Drinks, I much prefer the Blender bottles - they are cheaper, and easier to use and clean (I can also take them with me on the road).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
