SV or NSV moment at the gym

Recommended Posts

After I finished my C25k run today at the gym I was looking for something else to do as a cool down. I walked by the dumb bell rack, and saw a 60lb dumb bell. I wrestled that beast off the bottom of the rack and went over to the scale. I stepped up and with it I weighed 257. The owner of the gym whose also a good friend walked by and saw what I was doing, he asked me if that was what I weighed before. No, I weighed 3 lbs more than this. Gotta a high five for it....felt good! Damn that thing was heavy too...

Isn't it amazing to think how much excess weight you were actually carrying around? I picked up a 40 pound bag of cat litter yesterday and could hardly hoist it, then realize I still have about 2.5 cat litters left to go on my weight loss...

I completely understand. I dont know how I was able to lug around an extra 76 pounds for all those years. Im only 5'4 so no wonder my poor back would cuss me out every day. Not to mention my poor feet. I dont know if I could even lift what Ive lost. Its astonishing what we became used to.

I used to go bike riding with my hubby pre-op and there was this one teeny tiny hill that I would struggle with right? So a couple of days ago I got back on the bike (I had to lay off the exercise due to having hernia surgery a month ago) and we did our same path and after the hill my hubby asked "so how was that hill?" I said "what hill?" cause I didnt know what he was talking about until he told me I used to huff and puff to get up that itsy bitsy hill. Plus my butt didnt hurt from the bike seat like it used to. I love NSV's!

That is awesome! I have found myself staring dumbfounded at a 20kilo sack of potatoes in the supermarket and just can't fathom how I used to carry around 2.5 times that weight!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
