As I've lost weight and the stomach has started to deflate, I've been getting awful chafing underneath my stomach, where it hangs right above my groin region. It is terribly uncomfortable and painful, and I'm wondering what remedies you used if you faced this. I didn't know if some kind of over the counter powder would work, or if I should get something medicated from my doctor. My problem is that it seems to stay moist there all day due to the skin on skin, sweat, etc. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

You need to keep the area dry or it will become raw and painful. Are you able to put a papertowel under your belly and have it hold? Use powder but make sure the area is dry..if it becomes sweaty then the powder will turn paste-like..good luck :-)

Definitely have it reported at your md office for insurance purposes. You could try some diaper rash cream as this creates a bit of a barrier to protect the skin from the moisture from the sweat. Also - I think it is Monistat that has a new line of female products and there is a chafing gel - it would need to be reapplied during the day though. If there is any way to protect it with some cotton fabric, this will help also. Good luck - I know that is uncomfortable.

Monostat makes a gel for chafing. I have never used it for that purpose- I use it as make-up primer but maybe it would hold up in a sweaty area. In Walmart they sell it next to the other "feminine products".

I use this as my make up primer also ha ha! Good ol' Pinterest. It's the same as the 60 dollar primer I was using prior.

You could also try Body Glide, distance runners use it to prevent chafing.

After a shower, use good old Vaseline! Just a thin coating will work. You can get with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E in it and they, also, have some that has cocoa butter in it. The cocoa butter one smells really good.

The moisture barrier sticks, aloe, etc. are great for chaffing, but take pictures and document, for sure!

I have oily skin and giant pores. The primer fills in the pores and makes your makeup glide on easily- I use a rather dry makeup. The tube lasts a very long time too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
