tealeth922 7 Posted June 18, 2013 As I've lost weight and the stomach has started to deflate, I've been getting awful chafing underneath my stomach, where it hangs right above my groin region. It is terribly uncomfortable and painful, and I'm wondering what remedies you used if you faced this. I didn't know if some kind of over the counter powder would work, or if I should get something medicated from my doctor. My problem is that it seems to stay moist there all day due to the skin on skin, sweat, etc. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

riss523 26 Posted June 18, 2013 Go to your doctor every time it happens!! That way it's documented in case you need skin removal surgery. It'll make the process much easier!! 3 Cheer Mama, LI Gemini NY and erp reacted to this
oldskoolsooz 24 Posted June 18, 2013 You need to keep the area dry or it will become raw and painful. Are you able to put a papertowel under your belly and have it hold? Use powder but make sure the area is dry..if it becomes sweaty then the powder will turn paste-like..good luck :-)
nursehr80 18 Posted June 18, 2013 Definitely have it reported at your md office for insurance purposes. You could try some diaper rash cream as this creates a bit of a barrier to protect the skin from the moisture from the sweat. Also - I think it is Monistat that has a new line of female products and there is a chafing gel - it would need to be reapplied during the day though. If there is any way to protect it with some cotton fabric, this will help also. Good luck - I know that is uncomfortable.
vegasneon 181 Posted June 18, 2013 Monostat makes a gel for chafing. I have never used it for that purpose- I use it as make-up primer but maybe it would hold up in a sweaty area. In Walmart they sell it next to the other "feminine products". 1 nursehr80 reacted to this

I use this as my make up primer also ha ha! Good ol' Pinterest. It's the same as the 60 dollar primer I was using prior.
Ah0505 42 Posted June 18, 2013 You could also try Body Glide, distance runners use it to prevent chafing. 1 taurabird reacted to this
ppasjm 37 Posted June 18, 2013 After a shower, use good old Vaseline! Just a thin coating will work. You can get with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E in it and they, also, have some that has cocoa butter in it. The cocoa butter one smells really good.

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 18, 2013 Gold Bond makes a chafing stick that is for sports. I use it under my boobs for martial arts and it is awesome! http://www.drugstore.com/gold-bond-chafing-defense-anti-friction-formula/qxp391906 1 Ah0505 reacted to this
GypsyQueen 198 Posted June 18, 2013 The moisture barrier sticks, aloe, etc. are great for chaffing, but take pictures and document, for sure!
vegasneon 181 Posted June 18, 2013 Make up primer?! Never heard of it, please do tell! I have oily skin and giant pores. The primer fills in the pores and makes your makeup glide on easily- I use a rather dry makeup. The tube lasts a very long time too.
