Does everyone experience band slippage and who has gone years without the slippage? Please provide me with your observation of the band slippage and does the doctors know what causes the slippage and erosion information. Just concerned:confused:

One of the best things to do is go to the "search" feature which is in the middle of the blue title bar at the top of the page and type in "slippage".

Slippage isn't common, it can be caused by poor placement in surgery or several self induced reasons. It is best to search the forums so that you can read mulitple posts so you get different points of view.

Good luck!

I ate a lot of Soups, grits, oatmeal. I didn't necessarily make anything new or come up with recipe ideas. I was allowed to eat fish as well, so I would go to the local cajun store and get a baked fish meal. The fish would last several meals and I would give the extras to my family.

also some good staples, mac n cheese, soft fruits, Jello, pudding. You should look in the food section, I bet there are some very ingenius people that came up with some good recipes.

Anything you can mash with a fork or put in a blender is acceptable too. I read one time where a lady was having a hamburger craving so she put it in the blender.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.

A hamburger smoothie. Wow. It's hard to believe but in a couple weeks that will probably sound really good to me too. :hungry:

My doctor said that a lot of the complications occur from people drinking soda pop and burping all the carbonation causes a lot of slippage. As for erosion, prescriptions like prednisone (steroids) thins out tissues and may cause erosions. Some things just can't be helped also! I did have a friend who was banded a little over a year ago, and started at a size 26 and is now a 10/12 and just had the band removed because she had food blockage and the opening was no bigger than the width of a pencil, and had gone so long with it that scar tissue had formed over the food. luckily, she had already reeped most of the benefits of the band and her doctor actually had told her to gain a few pounds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
