I was sleeved on june 12th and am also frustrated with the liquid diet. My new stomach snd taste buds dont like any of the "sweetness" of any of the protien shakes and I feel physically ill... so I read and found out you could boil chicken and then blend it eith broth like a Soup and use that for your protien and ive been doing that ever since and it works amazing! Today I even took a can of chicken with the juice pkus half a cup of broth some ff mayo a stalk of celerey and a stalk of green onion and blended it all together to make a chicken salad puree that I could eat for lunch and it was FABULOUS. Had all the flavor! Still eating healthy but giving myself HEALTHY OPTIONS that I like. Its so much better than force feeding myself that shake crap!!

So thankful to see I am not the only one. I was sleeved on the 12th and today I am craving everything in sight - but no true hunger feelings. I do occasionally get like an empty gut feeling, but I sip on something and it subsides. Yesterday and today, I tried some Soup and frozen yogurt (yogurt allowed on my full liquid post op diet) but after like 3 bites, I got these severe stomach cramp feeling that quickly disappears. So I stop and feel satisfied for a while. Anyone experience this crazy stomach pains like 5-10 seconds after swallowing something? Off to fantasize about bread, Pasta, and chocolate....

Hi,

I'm 5 days out and was surprised to feel like I could trade my iPhone for a saltine cracker! I had a little yogurt and s/f Jello and got past it!

I did order the unflavored Isopure protien powder and look forward to getting my protien in something other than a sweet tasting shake. I'm about sweetened out! LOL!

Still, I'm getting the desired results and am grateful for that.

Enjoy the day, Anne

I'm on day 8 pre-op liquid diet and I really want to eat :( I won't cheat though I'm just so sick of shakes and want to taste something different :(

Question am I really NOT going to want to eat post-op because I can't see that now . Right now I feel like I could wake up from anesthesia and eat ,eat

eat !! I think I'm getting delusional and crazy from shakes!

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hey VST Addict,

Does your pre op diet include broth? It sounds like a lame food, but I really looked forward to my "roast beef soup" while my partner ate dinner.

I got very bored with the shakes. S/F Jello, S/F Popcycles, and the broth were my saving grace.

Keep your eye on the prize. You are going to be so happy with the results!

Anne

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
