Not Craving Food, but Dreaming About It?

Recommended Posts

OK, this is weird. I'm on week 3... it's next Monday I can start purees. (And FWIW, I'm at the three-week stall, so I'm not weighing myself this week at all.) I am not craving food at all during my waking hours. I've been out for pizza with friends (I had milk), to coffeeshops (milk and herbal tea), watched my family eat Chinese... honestly, cream of chicken Soup tastes about my speed. I wasn't tempted by the pizza or the muffins or whatever. I wasn't hungry for them at all.

But I'm dreaming about solid food! I keep dreaming that even though I'm in the liquid phase even in my dream, I eat something and then have to decide what to do about it.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Yep! I am exactly like you! I am one week post op, and am not hungry at all. My family eats, and I have absolutely no desire for food of any kind. But I did dream about food two nights ago. I'm still on liquids, and in my dream I ate some food, and then was freaked out because I was afraid I would damage my sleeve. I was in a panic wondering what to do. I think its our brains way of figuring out how to adjust to this new way of eating.

Hahahaha, I was so like that too! I would wake up feeling like I blew it all! The dreams have stopped though, I'm three months out.

Nothing like dancing doritos in your head!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
