Torani and Da Vinci Syrups

Recommended Posts

I love these syrups! I picked up a couple of the sugar free ones at Walmart to try and now Im hooked. I add them to my Protein Drinks, yogurts, make glazes, salad dressings etc...

I went on their websites and they have all kinds of flavors even BACON lol although that is not sugar free. I searched a little more and found a wholesale website that has them for under 5.00 each for the large bottles with no min to buy.

lollicupstore.com

Just a thought to help add a little flavor!

Just wondering if anyone has asked their Dr or but regarding these syrups. I asked mine and she said not to use....something about a slippery slope, but wouldn't give me a reason not to use them. Just wondering what others have heard? I'd love to use them but she was pretty adamant.

My guess about the "slippery slope" would be because if you get used to adding SF items to drinks the thought is that it is very easy to add full-sugar items as well. Additionally, most of the additives we (society "we") consume are many, many times sweeter than natural sugar (like 200x - 600x) and are composed of a multitude of artificial flavors and chemical additives that our bodies are not "naturally" equipped to process and digest. Many people have come to consider these types of items MORE harmful than natural sugar.

That said, I think that if your doctor gives you a similarly unfulfilling answer to a question you should say something like "I am committed to my long-term success with my sleeve and am not looking to take shortcuts, but it is helpful for me to know if there is a medical concern to the guidance you are giving me or if it falls into a nutritional/lifestyle concern so that I can appropriately ask follow-up questions"

Oh, additionally, from a nutritional standpoint, there are foods that are "bad" for you and foods that are "good" for you...but there are also foods that are "neither beneficial nor detrimental" and since they don't add anything positive to our diets, many NUTS feel this is reason enough not to include them. Wow, didn't realize I had quite so much to say on this topic :-)

I wenI went to World Market today and they had Torani syrups 2 for $10. I bought 12, including salted caramel, white chocolate, S'mores, Almond Roca, English Toffee, French Vanilla, Raspberry, Peach, Brown Sugar and Cinnamon and Regular Caramel. All sugar-free. That was a real deal, they're usually $6.99 a bottle.

You can add them to anything you want flavor in. Your Protein drinks, Tea, coffee etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
