Sleeved June 11...doing great!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved last Tuesday and came home Thursday and feel like a million bucks! The only problem was that I was at ER yesterday due to being dehydrated. My doctor sent me in to check my kidney functions due to me having high creatinine levels while I was in the hospital. But they were good after blood work came back so all I had to do was have an IV for fluids and went home. I am just wondering if this is gonna be a routine occurance to be dehydrated. Is this just a temporary side effect of the diet we sleepers have at first? I do drink as much liquids as I can physically take in.

I've not had that problem at all. I never did drink much before surgery and now I have a problem getting in 5-6 cups a day. I am 7 months out.

Also, I noticed on my diet food list that I can have Tomato juice or V8. Has anyone tried that within a week postoperative!

I was discharged on full fluids so I did a strained tomato bisque a few days after surgery with no issues. Some people so have issues with V8, tomato juice, etc. Maybe start with a quarter cup and see how do you with it.

No, dehydration is not normal. You should be sipping CONSTANTLY. They had me doing a log that was detailed in 15 min increments. I put a checkmark each time I took a sip. I was able to start with a sip = half an ounce at a time and increase it to 1 ounce at a time (using a shot glass ).

I was sleeved june 12! I got the Diet V8 Splash and have no problems and I'm having iced tea and such. I have been able to get in my 64 oz liquids and I personally am aiming (and reaching) 60g of Protein a day. It is an all day process! And I'm going this morning to get some smaller drinking glasses. It is true, I was drinking too fast with a larger glass.

I think that I also need to get some smaller glasses...lol! But I will try the V8 Splash like you said. At least it will be something different. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Hi! I was sleeved on the same day! How much liquid are you taking in? I feel like I'm on the low side of my Doc's reccs, but its a struggle to get just that much in. But the amount is slowly increasing everyday... I'm pretty satisfied with that (hopefully he won't fuss too much at my appointment tomorrow). And I'm def trying some V8 tomorrow!... I can't believe I'm excited for V8!

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
