may sleevers....a month out...how r u doing?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved may 28th. Down about 20lbs but also have had no issues. Soft foods started last week and now I can eat anything! Find that I can get a fair amount of food in before I feel full and also feel like I can eat too much. Have felt great since my op and maybe did a little too much too soon where food is concerned. Had a real hankering for cheese puffs today and had some, only a dozen but.... Finding it hard to give up my favourite foods.

i haven't really followed the post-op diet rules. after the first 2 weeks of liquids after surgery (and even then i had some pureed stuff), i just started right on soft food and even some tougher food (even though i was supposed to then be on pureed food for 2 weeks, and then soft food for 2 weeks, and then normal food). and i have had ZERO issues with anything (even had a little piece of chocolate cake this past weekend for a friend's birthday, and a few sips of red wine on father's day). and i have no problem getting my 75 grams of Protein in and i'm doing awesomely in every other way so f**k it.

but yeah, i am being more conscious of my portions now and i see that, yes, i COULD eat more and not feel like ****... but if i'm eating slowly, i feel perfectly satisfied after eating the amounts i should be. so i'm really trying to measure things and constantly remind myself that i WILL feel satisfied, and that that other food WILL be there later. i don't have to eat all the food in one sitting.

so my completely uneducated and purely based on experience opinion is this: if you feel okay and want some fuckin' cheese puffs, eat some fuckin' cheese puffs. just keep it to a minimum, and do awesomely otherwise.

Im one month today and down 50 lbs!!!

Was sleeved 5/16 so just out 4 weeks/a month and down 40 pounds, but still have real trouble with some foods and never feel like I can take a big enough drink of Water to not be thirsty. Am more bothered by temperature variations in food and drink than by the food itself.

I was sleeved on 24/5/13, I lost 16lbs (or 7.5 kilo for the Aussies) in the first 2 weeks, and hit a stall week 3-4. Hoping this will break, I was loosing faith being under 500 cal a day and exercising 5 days a week with no results. Thanks to this forum I now realise this is normal. I just want more weight to go! I do love my stomach now, I can eat nearly anything but such ridiculously small proportions which I like. Only miss my diet coke and to scared to try it as most people don't until after 12 weeks I've heard

My date was May 28 and I'm down 25lbs. I am having dumping issues. Every smell makes me sick to the stomach. I'm in my puree stages and the food after I blend it looks like dog food and I get sick to the stomach. I can't eat anything. I'm desperately trying to get my Protein Shakes down without them coming back up. The only thing that is staying down is Water. Frustrated but I'm going make it!!!

I was sleeved on May 10th. I'm down 32 pounds. I noticed this past weekend when I was outside a lot that the heat makes me feel very nauseated. Also, my mouth has started being very dry. I am defintely getting more than enough fluids in, so I'm not sure what that's all about. Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty well. Starting to enjoy cooking again, but cooking healthy now! I do miss fresh fruits and salads, but I have a bit longer to go until I can give them a try.

So glad I'm not the only one!! I have been more conscious of Portion Control but am finding it hard to eat slowly. I'm going to try putting my utensils down between bites to see if that helps. Struggling a little with the Protein (can't stomach Protein powder or pre made shakes) but eating pretty well. Only puked once and that was after some peaches so at least they tasted good on the way out. Lol. Haven't had fried food at all but admit to 1 slice of grilled bacon with a scrambled egg at the weekend. I'm trying to listen to my body and give it what it wants, within reason. And those cheese puffs were amazing!!! Pre-sleeve I would've eaten half of the family bag.

My surgery was 5/28 and I'm not on soft foods yet. Still on puree or suppose to be but I'm only drinking because I can't keep anything down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
