What was that??

Just a thought... are you extremely picky about the quality of food you eat now that you are banded? I don't mean just high Proteins and low carbs picky but picky about the cheapy foods hehe...

Stick with me here... pre-band the bites were big and 2 chews were sufficient, you could have put a fish bone in a hamburger and we wouldn't have noticed right? Now that the bites are pea sized and chewed extremely well, I'm finding myself locating chewy "things" and hard "things" and "OMG what was THAT" things inside food. :bananapartyhat:

I was in the middle of that big Colorado storm over Christmas and with 2 kids we HAD to stop and eat fast food. I decided on the meat only from a McDonalds hamburger and EEEEEW, there was something in it that was NOT hamburger and I only noticed because of the extensive chew session.

Odd thought... I'm bored so figured I'd bring it up

I hear you! I am also experiencing jaw pain from chewing so much! I get really sore after eating something that has to be chewed a lot. I haven't tried a hamburger yet, but now I am scared to! By the way, I live in Pueblo, CO, but luckily we only got about an inch here, but I hear there is another one on the way! Do you live in Colorado or were you just visiting?

Yes, I am very picky now! I can hardly eat ground beef, it is the worst. Physically I can, but even if I get super lean ground sirloin by the time I chew it up there is a ball of weird stuff that I have to discreetly spit into a napkin. I swear I even found miniscule bits of ground up bone in a meatball I got at an Italian restaurant! It totally grosses me out. About the only red meat I eat now is a small filets mignon or roast.

I've never eaten much crap apart from a few problem foods (like choc chip biscuits and muffins, even so these were usually home made). I always had a healthy respect for my body and keeping it functioning well - so organic fruit and vegetables, good quality wholegrain carbs and lean meats have always been part of my diet.

Likewise I've always had a horror of anything bright orange, obviously artificially coloured or flavoured, things like McDonalds more than very very occasionally, and I dont feed my kids that sort of stuff either. They only get soft drinks once in a blue moon. I just wouldnt serve a big splodge of stodgy macaroni and cheese to my family for dinner, its always fresh colourful vegetables and a good Protein source and it always was. Foods that come in a packet or box or from the freezer section dont feature heavily on our menu.

So I'm about the same. If I'm going to go all out and eat something indulgent, it wont be cheap crap from the chip aisle in the supermarket. Its more likely to be brie and crackers, with a nice port to wash it down. Its just as easy to get fat on good food as on bad, lol, I managed it quite well! All things in moderation but I do like good quality food.< /p>

My main vice is coffee so I guess I'm lucky in that respect.

Conniesueb.....PB=Productive Burb. Kind of a strange term for the kind of vomiting a lapbander does...it's not really vomiting...no projectile to it....it just kind of comes up and out, no acid or odor to it, just lots of slime. Some people also call it sliming, but there's a difference between sliming and PB'ing. You'll just have experience it to understand it....but when it happends you'll know it. Do try to control any violent vomiting, tho....it can cause damage.

Yes, I picked thru EVERYTHING....my first postOp burger pattie turned out to be about 50% cardboard-like filler....I ended up with a golf-ball sized wad that I threw in the trash....I'm told by meat guys much of that in cheap burger is vascular and cartilagenous connective tissue and other generally uneaten parts of the critter...

And there ARE lots of unidentifiable bits in there....

Jack, thank you for being so descriptive. I'm going to re-read this post every time I have a craving for a Big Mac!!!:bananapartyhat:

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
