Ladies, I stopped getting my period after my surgery. I'm 5 months post op and 27 years old. Anyone have this same problem due to rapid weight loss? If so, how long did it take you to get your period again?

not with this surgery because I was already in menopause...but when I had a previous surgery while I was still having periods, my period did stop for a few months; I just figured it was the stress and/or trauma of having the surgery...I know this is different...but you are only 27 so I bet your period does return soon...I would give it another month or two and then see your ob/gyn if you still haven't had a period

I've seen people say they lost their periods and I've seen people with super, awful periods afterwards. I had an ablation 2 years ago so I don't have active periods anymore but I can tell my hormones are worse at the moment. I still get to go through the same PMS roller coaster as everyone else :D

Just the opposite.... I have always had very irregular periods and would usually need to take hormones to start... But after I came home from the hospital I started and started again 2 weeks later... No fun

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
