I think of everything in terms of 60-80 ratio. 60-80 oz Water. 60-80 g Protein. and 60-80g carbs. That is what my nutritionist told me to maintain.

I think these answers follow pretty much the same thing my NUT said...she said not to worry about calories at this time (I am 6 weeks out) but to make sure I get the 60-80 grams of Protein (she wants me to aim for 75g) and very important to stay hydrated, too...like others have said (and I can say by experience), unless you are eating starches and high sugar foods instead of the dense Proteins, veggies and Protein Shakes, it is very difficult to eat enough volume-wise now to go over 600-800 calories per day (which is my current avg)

Now I'm just trying to find a Protein Shake that tastes half decent maybe flavorless one so I can add it into things I like smoothies so one that's good for blending any suggestions and don't forget I'm in Canada! Not sure if the states would have the same brands of Protein Shakes as in Canada?

Not sure if you can get them in Canada but the Premier Protein shakes are really good. I get them at costco. (Chocolate)

So excited I went to Cosco and bought kaizen whey isolate Protein Powder. To try to get more Protein in my day and......... OMG!! Got the vanilla ice cream flavour and it is so yummy! So excited to find this big punch of protein 35 g per scoop. My morning shake 1 scoop of it, 1 scoop of body by vi shake mix, 3 large frozen strawberries and 1 cup skim milk..... Blend and yum yum with 50 g of protein! Good start to the day.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
