I'm 5days out and I don't feel swollen anymore. Maybe a little by the belly button incision, but for the most part the noticeable swelling has gone down.

I had surgery June 12th and I still feel very swollen. I imagine it will vary for each person and depend on how much rest you allow your body.

I had it done on June 10th, and it's not horrible...but, it is still noticeable (and tender to the touch)

I was also sleeved June 12th and have lots of swelling still. I wonder if having or not having a drain has anything to do with swelling?! My bellybutton incision site is also very sore. I was wondering why that is....

I didn't have a bellybutton incision. But, I would imagine that area would be especially tender. Did they not do it lacroscopically (sp?) for you?

I didn't have a drain and I don't have anymore swelling. I really think it just depends on your body. As far as generalized swelling, I didn't have much of that bc my procedure was done outpatient and I didn't get pumped full of Fluid during a hospital stay (make sense).

My bellybutton site is the only one that was sore- that's where they actually removed my stomach from-- so it's the site with the most activity and most stretching - that may be why your belly button site hurts worse too.

I didn't have any swelling and I had an IV for 2 days. I think it depends on how much gas they pump you up with. Some have pain from it other don't. There's a gazillion different reasons for this and that when it comes to how one reacts to surgery

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
