Ok so I'm paranoid. I'm having a sharp pain on my left side if I breathe in deep or belch. It just started this afternoon and I was sleeved on the 11th. Has anyone else experienced this?

It could be an air bubble from the surgery, but you should probably call your doctor to make sure you haven't thrown a clot!

I am 6 weeks post op and about 2-3 weeks I developed a sharp pain under my left breast when I breathed. My Dr. said it is a suture that they put in the top of the stomach and it is normal. Needless to say I felt like I was dying for about a week and than the pain traveled to my back behind my ribs. That lasted a few days and now I am fine.

I was sleeved on the 11th too. The only pain I have in my left shoulder is from gas. When I feel that, I breathe in shallow a few times and that helps me burp and that gets rid of the pain.

I called my nurse. She said it probably has but if it continues through to tomorrow then to call them back.

I had pain on my left side and shoulder blade lasted on and off for about two weeks starting the fourth day. I just knew something was wrong. I couldn't take a deep breath. Than one day it just went away. The only thing that helped was laying flat with a heating pad and relaxing.

First of all you need to check with your Dr.!! It might be gas. As time goes by and you lose weight rapidly you might developer gallbladder problems. Gallstones. It happened to me but I was further post op than you. I'm hoping its just gas. Please call your Dr. They are the experts.

I had the same problem but it turned it to be gas. I never had wired gas pains like that before surgery so I was paranoid too. If it gets worse just call your Dr.

I'm dealing with it now....lower left back & left front side! What is it? Stitches?

I'm experiencing the exact same same thing. Left rib cage, left backside rib cage, left shoulder, and waist. Called Dr's office and they said to take Tylenol, and if it worsens to call back.

They gas they put in you can go all over and cause pain in your torso. Also, being backed up due to surgery and pain meds can cause severe cramping pain in your intestines which is is largely located on the left side. Stitches tend to have a pulling feeling and should not cause severe sharp pain.

Always contact our dr.

Oh, and the only thing that will rid your body of the gas is walking.. A LOT! No movement means no release of gas from your body.

:D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
