Ok so I'm paranoid. I'm having a sharp pain on my left side if I breathe in deep or belch. It just started this afternoon and I was sleeved on the 11th. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had this same problem and found out I was severely dehydrated! What color is your urine?

Sleeved the 6/19/13 and my left side is still hurting. I see my doctor on the 3rd for my 2 week check up. He told me right before I went back for surgery that I would have discomfort in my left side for a while and it is normal because its the biggest incision and they stitch it down to my muscle. The stitch should break after a few weeks. That one incision in sunk in. It hurts! I am ready for the stitch to break and my tummy to level out. I think I will call tomorrow to just confirm the pain lasting this long.

Tonight will be 3 weeks post op for me. I still have this pain too. Left shoulder pain, pain in my left side, feels like up by the ribs, just like you guys are saying. It's there when I breathe deep. But if I push down on that side of my stomach I can breathe deep without the pain. These websites had me freaking out thinking I had developed a leak. But I have no other symptoms than the left shoulder pain. There would be other problems right?

I had the same pain. I went to my primsary dr and a small part of my lung collapsed and started to fill with Fluid. I geuss this can happen if they accidently knick your lung durring surgery.

I had to go home this plastic thing that I had to take deep breaths in every hour to prevent lung problems. Pneumonia

Call your doctor. You have to stay on the safe side.

Yeah I'm not having any trouble breathing. My lung capacity is still there, just get that pain when I breathe deep or yawn.

Just wanted to add for any of the new post ops..... I too had severe pain....

and I had went to Mexico, but the pain did not happen until I returned home....

I suffered for a day or two because it was bearable.... but let me tell you

about 15 days out, yes I say 15 days out.... one evening I was laying in bed

and I began to bust wind like a lactose intolerant calf who will not stop sucking

from the overflowing udders of the world champion blue ribbon milk producer

(you know the heifer in the Guinness World Book).... now these gigantic pooters

had no smell, but the Boston Symphony would have hired me.... passed air for

minutes straight.... and became a BRAND NEW WOMAN....

and my husband said "All that moaning and groaning, and me so concerned

because my wife needed to fart for half an hour. Whew!"

BE on alert, trapped gas is no laughing matter....

still trying to figure out

how it permeates through the inner sanctum

to final destination

of sweet release

and relief.

Lol! I had a lot of trouble with the gas pain in the first several days post op. I couldn't lay down at all the after because the pain was so bad. If I still had trapped gas it wouldn't surprise me. Admittedly, I've not been that active.

On the right side? I hate to say it but it could be your gallbladder. But it's pretty early for you to be developing a gallstone. Only 3 weeks post op. Get it checked out quick. I think they can see gallstones on an x Ray or mri. If you catch it quick you can probably treat it with medication or shockwave therapy. Last resort is surgery. Sorry, I hope that's not it! Maybe some gas still trapped in your abdomen.

Ok, my left side pain has subsided. No more pains when I breathe deeply or anything. It just vanished in the last couple days. Virtually all internal pain is gone. Still have some very minor surface pain from my incisions healing(I'm a compulsive scab picker, so that's not helping). But what's killing me it's this left shoulder blade pain! It's just nonstop unless I medicate it with Tylenol...I'm 24 days post op now...my God when will this end?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
