Waiting for ins approval and having second thoughts

Recommended Posts

I am waiting for the 10 days processing time for my ins company and have been reading a lot. I am really flipping out about loose skin. I know it seems real crazy since I let myself get over weight to begin with. But, I am so worried about what my husband will think of me. He says he loves me no matter what!! He is pretty amazing.

So, I guess my question is, is loosing the weight worth having loose skin?

Loose skin was the last thing I was worried about.. I was afraid of the massive lifestyle change and commitment to this process. As well as more immediate concerns about the surgery itself and possible complications.

I had 2nd thoughts a few years ago and backed on and then had my surgery 6 weeks ago. The benefits definitely out weight the negative.

I am worried about loose skin as well. But, like everyone wlse said, the PROs of the surgery outweigh the CONs.

How is loose skin worse than loose fat? :)

I think that's a very normal concern, not crazy at all.........these are my thoughts, for myself......hope it helps.......

I've researched WLS on and off for about 6 years.......if I had had the surgery, I may have had loose skin or hair loss......but I now have that--w/o surgery :D .....in addition, I now have a lot of health issues due to my weight......and they are just going to keep coming unless I do something

So, if I could go back 6 years, I would run to have surgery if I could.......even if it guaranteed loose skin and thin hair......at this point, those are the least of my worries......it may be an age thing.....the big five-oh is looming.....

I have REALLY struggled with this decision ever since that informational session--drove DH nuts! Two weeks ago, I had an epiphany and now going full speed ahead with WLS.....I still have some concerns, but I think they are normal....it helped to write down all the pros and cons of having/not having surgery...that may help you, too.

Good luck with your decision.....typically you don't HAVE to schedule the surgery right away.....when you hear from your insurance company, find out how long the approval is good for (I think they may give you X amount of months to have the surgery before the approval expires), and use that time to come to a decision if you are still on the fence......again, good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
