prosebud 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi everyone, Although I'm new to this site, I have had a lapband for almost two years, with very little success. Mainly, this was due to the lack of restriction in my large VG band, and my belief that this was something else I had failed in. Thankfully, I decided to recommit myself and get an additional fill, which brings me to 8.8 cc. Finally, I feel like a real bandster. I also joined WW to give me the discipline to get weighed in weekly, even if I do not (and cannot) follow the program (which I never could anyway). I am looking for support because I have to lose about 60 more pounds (I've already lost 30) to fit into a dress for my daughter's wedding in the fall. I feel for the first time, after all this time, that I am really serious. I look forward to being here.
TracyinKS 7 Posted December 27, 2006 From what people have said on this forum... WORK THE BAND and it will WORK FOR YOU!
ReneBean 3 Posted December 27, 2006 Hey Prosebud Love the screen name. :] I totally understand the VG band thing. I am at about 30 lbs since surgery after 11 mos. 8.2 cc's isn't quite enough... so maybe that Fill next week will do the trick. At least you didn't GAIN a bunch of weight in the last 2 yrs. That's better than you could have expected before - and now that you are ready to work, the band is still there... How cool is that?!? Hugs and good luck! 2007 is going to be a GREAT year. :]
lianna 3 Posted December 27, 2006 Welcome to LBT!!! Lack of restriction definitely wont help take the weight off, but at least you have lost and maintained a 30 lb loss up to now. I bet with your recent fill, recommitment, and accountability with WW that you start dropping pounds again! What a perfect time to start fresh with the New Year! juliegeraci 7 Posted December 27, 2006 Hi Prosebud, I know there are folks out there that have been banded for a while and haven't lost that much. I'm glad you are getting another fill and have recommitted yourself to the program. Best of luck to you.
prosebud 0 Posted December 28, 2006 Sometimes, when I browse these sites, it seems that everyone is losing oodles of weight in practically no time. That is not my story. So, I'm really grateful for your words of encouragement, even if I have not been the model bandster! I am very happy that I lost 30 lbs., but I really had expected to do better than that after all this time. But I did not know how long it would take to finally reach an acceptable level of restriction. And I felt like this surgery was just another one of my failures. As a result, I was too embarassed to reach out for help. However, as you mention, I am proud of myself for not gaining and I still have the chance for a "do over." Thanks again for the support. MiniPearl#2 0 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi everyone I'M ALSO NEW TO THIS SITE. I,m just getting started. Like got appointment tommorro to see if I can start paying for insurance on me that will cover the surgery. He told me to wait at least 6 months before asking for it to cover it. Does anyone know why? Does anyone have any suggestions for me. Do you tell the insurace before you even get it, or did I already screw this thing up ? help me someone to get started. /
juliegeraci 7 Posted December 28, 2006 Prosebud, I am a slow loser. I have lost about 33 lbs since my surgery in June. Don't be discouraged. It is difficult to only lose 1 lb a week. I am considered normal by my surgeon though. Best of luck to you on your continued weight loss.
