Recommended Posts

Hey All..

My surgery isn't till October, but I just found out that my hubby wont be able to accompany me.. So i will be going ALONE!!!!

Its freaking me out..considering that the furtherst I have travelled is Colorado. So i was wondering if anyone can share there experience

of travelling alone to TJ and going to Mi Doctor.

What was a single room like in the hospital? Did you have a call bell if you needed a nurse? 'Im really worried about being alone!

I didn't go alone but honestly I could have and would have been just fine. Good luck.

My friend and i went and both had surgery 3 wks ago at Hospital MI doctor in tiquana. She was going to go alone and then i found out she was going and we planned our surgeries together. When we got to the hospital there were 2 other ladies that had traveled there alone that were doing fine. Its nice because there is only like 10 rooms per floor so as soon as you ring your call light they come in, unlike in the usa. I had a lot of pain issues because my fibromyalgia and i needed a lot of pain meds so i rang my bell a lot and they were right there within a minute. Dont worry. Are you going thru Medical Tourism corporation?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
