Recommended Posts

Hey everyone so tomorrow I begin my puréed stage & it will be my 2nd week since surgery 6/10 , glad that part is finally over :)

Any good puréed recipes I should try out, not to sure what to do?

Thank you :)

I had surgery on 6/10 as well, but Monday is only 1 week out. I'm due to see my NUT on 6/25 to discuss the next stage. I know people have different programs they follow after surgery, and can maybe start the next phase earlier than others. If so, best of luck to you! Can't wait until I can move on to the next level!

Back when I was a LapBander, one of my FAVE purees was this: buy an order of chili at Wendy's...it will come with crackers. Go home and dump both the chili and crackers into a blender and puree the heck out of it. SO GOOD. I get to start purees next weekend and I guarantee I'll be stopping at Wendy's!

Seriously - the crackers are essential.

Never have been a fast-food person BUT, you're making my mouth water!

My problem is that I have always *been* a fast food person - heck, I even worked in two different fast food restaurants through college! I wouldn't put it past me to throw a Nachos Bel Grande or Quarter Pounder w/Cheese in a blender by the time next weekend gets here...lol.

P.S. I'm totally kidding...but the chili from Wendy's isn't too bad, nutritionally, for ya!

I am totally trying the Wendy's chili and crackers! I have three days left of full liquids and am really getting bored with it and looking forward to something that actually tastes good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
