Is this normal and will I need to return to the hospital?

You need to go to the er or call your doctor. Very significant sign of infection. Could just be a UTI.

Just talked to Doc, he wanted me to take liquid Tylenol and keep an eye on it through the night, as well as watch my surgical sites. He said that if its unchanged in the am that I should head back to the hospital. Regarding the UTI, my urine has been quite darker than normal, is that an indicator? Thanks

How is your pulse? Any yellow/green discharge from any of your incisions?

It sounds like you're not drinking enough Fluid.

The dark urine may be a sign of dehydration rather than a UTI. If its painful to urinate or your urine has a pink or red tint to it that may be a UTI

Pulse is a little fast but not that noticeable, no pus that I can see. Bruising around my upper right incision (gallbladder removal site) has doubled in size to about a tennis ball.

Bruising, normal. Dark urine, more fluids. I'd be more worried about dehydration than anything else. Your doctor's advice sounds perfect!

I ran a fever about a degree over normal for the first week after surgery. Was told to go to the ER if it reached 101 or higher. It went away a week to the day of my surgery. I agree with the advice of the previous posters. Just wanted to chime in as I also worried about my post op fever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
