laffypatty 47 Posted June 15, 2013 I'm very nervous about whether or not I'll be approved. I currently have a BMI of 41 or so. I have Aetna, and many of you already know their requirements. The WLS surgeon I'm seeing wants my weight from '10, '11 and '12. I had babies in '10 and '12. My pre-pregnancy weight would still put me at a BMI of 37, but I have no comorbidities. The nurse at my OB/GYN's office sent me a note on an Rx pad, signed by the doctor, that listed my weight in the above years. The dates listed in each year are when I was pregnant, but that is not mentioned on the note. For each year, my weight is over 250#, so my BMI is well over 40. (I'm 5'5.) The bariatric coordinator suggested I submit my weight in this manner. After all, she said, they require a WEIGHT history, not a medical history. But I'm wondering if someone at Aetna will have the wherewithal to look over my complete medical history, see I had babies in '10 and '12, and figure out I was pregnant on the dates/weights submitted. Has anyone ever been approved/denied in this manner? 1 Dee White reacted to this
