I was wondering if I needed anything for pain in Mexico would I be allowed to bring it back across the border?

Sure! You can buy many pain killers OTC. As long as you don't buy so many that it appears you're dealing, you'll be ok. My doc gave me two sample packs (6/pk) of a sublingual Toradol and it was enough for my recovery.

My doc gave me pain and antibiotics to bring home. My driver had a medical pass for the border, no problems or at the airport.
