I had my sleeve on Monday (June 10th), and I've been sleeping in my lazy boy recliner this past week. I haven't been able to lay on my side comfortably yet, so it seems like the only option. My back hurts! I try to get up and walk around to loosen it, but I can't get past the sitting (or reclined) position just yet. Is it too soon to use a heating pad or something on it? I'm afraid to try.

When did all of you begin to lay down again?

I started sleeping on my right side at 1 week out. I learned how to crawl in bed on my knees and lay on my right side. The crawling helped a lot. The nurse at the hospital on my last day told me that. Wish they would of told me that in the beginning. Use your legs to scoot on the bed. It really did make a difference. :)

I used heating pads almost 24/7! I have a bad back as we'll. the recliner was my favorite spot. But I needed to hold someone or something to walk the first couple weeks. Then you will start getting a little stronger each day, so you should be able to move (not freely, but on your own) a little more comfortably.

When it came to sleeping, I could only lay flat for about 2 hours to start, then I'd go back to the recliner, but always with my heating pad!!!

If you can have someone massage you very lightly on your back to get some of the blood flowing little easier since you're not able to move that much at this point. These little things helped me until gained my strength back, hopefully it helps you as we'll! Good luck!

I have the same horrible back troubles...I am 3 days post op and my nurse allowed me to use 2 heating pads the first day in the hospital because I couldn't stand it, and I usually have a very high pain tolerance...one of the heating pads for my back and one for my upper abdomen, my problem was GAS! Those gas pains for me are HORRIBLE! That is what is causing my upper abdominal and back pressures. Everyone says the more you walk the faster the gas will be relieved... but for me the gas pressure is what makes it difficult to walk, it is like a double edged sword...lets just hope it decreases more rapidly soon!

I'm 4 and 1/2 weeks post op and I still have back pain. I'm now using my stomach muscles for things again, so it's lessening up, but right after surgery, my BACK did all the work when i walked around, etc, and if you don't use your stomach muscles it wreaks havoc on your spine, and thus your back muscles attached to it. It's been a slow painful process and thank goodness my hubby gives me back rubs.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
