I'm going shopping today for my pre op and post op liquid diet. I saw this huge tub of Protein Powder from costco that said 50g Protein per scoop and it was whey protein. Is there a specific kind of protein I'm looking for? What's isolate protein? Help please!

Be careful with proteins! You want low/zero sugar as well as high Protein. Check out Isopure or Syntrax Nectar. I also got a flavorless soy protein to mix in with my Soups as well to make sure I am getting enough in!

A lot of people on here get the costco one but for me it was waay too sweet, and tasted sort of like a really thick melted milkshake from McDonald's. If I were you get samples first before you invest in a tub that you may hate. unjury (unjury.com) and Syntrax nectar (luckyvitamin.com/vitacost.com) both have samples, have 0 carbs, 0 fat, and have an amazing amino acid profile... something that a lot of Protein shakes don't normally have. Isopure is also pretty good. If you are looking to go all natural without artificial ingredients try Jay Robb, who has shakes in whey isolate and Egg white and a variety of flavors.

Last but not least, get a variety of flavors because you will get sick of the same thing all of the time. Syntrax Nectar has over 20 different flavors from Cappuccino, to iced tea, to chocolate truffle, to fuzzy navel...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
