I was sleeved Tuesday and came home yesterday afternoon. Everything went well. The dr was very fast and very thorough. I have some pain still but I hardly need the pain meds until bedtime just to make sure I can sleep. All my family and the nurses and medical staff thought I looked good and sound strong. I am on the liquid diet drinking Water and Protein shakes 4oz every hour alternating between shakes and liquids. I think I am doing great! But why does it seem so easy for me considering how I worried so much about having it done? It's almost like I feel guilty that I am doing well!

Also, I am on several meds that I was on prior to surgery so taking my night time and morning time pills takes over an hour each way because I can only take 1 pill at a time with 10 mins in between each one! That is probably the thing that I am so overwhelmed with.

glad all is going well...I had a similar good experience post-surgery, better than what I had expected or feared...I understand your feeling...I didn't really feel guilty but more like wondering when the "bad stuff" was going to start happening...I just think I was well-prepared (like you probably were) and--most important--I chose an excellent surgeon...I am just thankful to God for no complications (and of course praying for continued blessing, the worrier that I am)

Congrats on your surgery! Now you are on the losers bench. I hope all continues to go well. Don't feel quilts about your success. It's normal to feel nervous with any type of major surgery. It's a life changing event. My doctor had be crush my pills but my blood pressure pill was so small I just chewed it up. Within a month I was taking off of it. I was only borderline due to weight. Hopefully soon you will be off some or all your meds once the weight decrease. Best of luck and remover to chew slowly and sip as much liquid and Protein as you can.

I was also sleeved on June 11 and I am doing pretty good. I feel great I am out and about today. I was sent from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon so I was only in there for overnight. I am getting around 50 ounces of liquids which includes my Protein of 60 g. I do feel a little tightness in my chest When I think I drink too much in a certain amount of time

Don't worry about the pills - it improves fairly quickly. I remember being overwhelmed by that too. Congrats on doing well.

I get that tightness also but it goes away after a minute or so. No nausea at all! I can't wait till when I can have soft foods!

I got that same feeling... I explained that feeling to my surgeon and she told me it was because I am drinking too fast or too much at one time.. So slow down and take smaller sips.. She said also that your stomach is narrow so you may be full when you feel that tightness...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
